Be Water My Friend

A cinematic essay by Charlotte Lagarde

DESCRIPTION

When Zeuf, a legendary surfer, cardiac nurse, and community activist, learns that her cancer has spread irreversibly, she invites her friend, filmmaker Charlotte Lagarde, to Santa Cruz to share the last chapter of her life. Made two decades after their first documentary, Be Water My Friend unfolds tenderly as a reflection on the fluidity of friendship, mortality, and their shared love of the ocean as a place of healing. As Zeuf approaches her death with grace, curiosity and intention, Charlotte is left to explore what happens next.
